Nonna’s Send off

I know mere words cannot express the depth of loss we all feel.  We want to hold on and not let go. The pain and grieve seems far too great.  None of us know how much time we have left on this earth.  What is left in the end are your actions, the memories you leave behind and how you made people feel.  And what you want to leave behind is people to remember you with LOVE.  Nonna’s love was great to everyone she touched, especially her grandchildren.  She showed her love through FOOD.  She loved to cook for her family and any invited and uninvited guests.  Hospitality was her greatest gift.  I personally will miss her famous Tiramisu and Torrone cookies.  I think all her grandchildren will miss her Pasta the most.  Nonna’s Pasta was the BEST!!!

Let your fond memories that you have of Nonna heal the sorrow that you have in your heart.  May all of those that have gone before especially family members like her son Peter, grandson Matthew, her sister Nella and her parents meet her with love.  I wish Ma, all the peace and comfort that we will keep her in our thoughts, minds and hearts.  And, remember all the advice she has given me over the years as Mothers give.

I read somewhere when I was grieving when Matthew died was:

Remember death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but LOVE leaves a memory no one can steal.

I feel this is true, we all loved Ma in our own way, and no one can take away our wonderful memories of her.  She will always be in our hearts, thoughts, and words.  She will never be forgotten by everyone she touched.

Let us Pray

Dear God,

Thank you for being with us right now.  We confess that we don’t understand why things happen the way they do.  We don’t understand why illness comes into our lives, but it is important to know that you walk every path of life with us.  Your wisdom is beyond our understanding, surround us with your love, that we may not be overwhelmed by our loss, but have confidence in your goodness and strength to meet the days to come.  Give us courage.  Bring us comfort and peace as we have lost a wonderful woman who we call wife, mother, mother- in -law, grandmother, great-grandmother and so on. Who we are going to miss terribly.  Help us by sending us the holy spirit to guide us.

There is no way to remove the pain.  The Grief is real.  The only sanity is to know, to believe, in a life beyond Earth with you, when all the scales are righted and the sufferings are made good.  We trust you and your promise that while Nonna’s life here on earth is done, her life beyond has just begun.  With that release, we lose her and let her go into your arms, then by faith receive in return the boundless comfort of your presence.  That is all, we ask in the name of Jesus.

AMEN
