THOMPSON, Evelyn

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn, on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the age of 90. She will be dearly missed by her children Anita Stewart, Judy Guilbault, Ralph Thompson, Robbin (Christena) Thompson, Cathy (Glen) McCann. She is the cherished Grandmother of Michael, Karen, Christopher, Katie (Casper), Jessica, Marissa, Gerard, Denis, Renee and great grandchildren. She will be remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Evelyn is predeceased by her parents Olive and Thomas, her 8 older siblings Marie (Glen), Gordon (Margaret), Ralph (Beatrice), Thomas (Doris), Donald, Robert (Alice), Margaret (Ceryl), Beatrice (Michael) and granddaughter Melissa Ann Marie.

 

Born in Elmira, Ontario as the youngest of 9, Evelyn lived in Niagara-on-the-Lake and St. Catharines for most of her life. She was a member of Grace Anglican Church for many years, and recently merged with St. Georges. Evelyn was an active member of the ACW and made countless quilts, afghans and more to support community outreach, especially those initiatives for Community Care.

 

In recent years Evelyn has also supported Food4Kids-Niagara and ALS, in addition to Community Care. Should you choose, memorial donations can be made to any of these charities, or a charity of your choice.

 

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Friday, April 29, 2022 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Following visitation, a Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will be held in the funeral home's chapel at 12 p.m.
