Obituary of Kathy Lynn Stapleton
Kathy Lynn (Diemert) Stapleton
April 7, 1958 - April 20, 2022
Our hearts are broken as we announce the passing of a true angel, Kathy Stapleton. Kathy passed away in her home on Wednesday, April 20th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Her journey over the last year was full of many challenges and setbacks but she never stopped fighting, never stopped giving and never stopped being the kind, loving, funny and caring soul that defined her.
Predeceased by her parents Marilyn (Kett) Diemert and Elmer (Al) Diemert, Kathy is survived by her husband Rand Stapleton, her brother Wayne Diemert, her twin sister Karen Diemert Kennedy, her sister Michele Diemert (Line Mercier) and sister Nicole Diemert (Mark Chisholm). Kathy will also be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews: Shane Diemert (Kimberly Comeau), Shelby Diemert, Dylan Diemert (Courtney Muller), Brandon Diemert Kennedy, Codie Chisholm, Darcy Chisholm (Lucas Dibenedetto), Carson Chisholm, Carter Chisholm, and great nephew and nieces Cooper, Rory and Nyah, all of whom were dear to her heart.
Kathy will also be missed and fondly remembered by all of her wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins who have all been a special part of her life throughout her 64 years.
If you knew Kathy, you knew she was a very active member in her beloved hometown Port Dalhousie. A member of the Port Dalhousie Beautification Committee, as well as a member of local Curling, Rowing, Cycling and Golfing clubs, Kathy never stopped giving back, helping and having fun. She was very well-known and well-regarded in her neighborhood and community.
Kathy retired in May 2018 with an impressive 40-year recognition of employment with the Bank of Montreal, following in the footsteps of her parents and twin sister Karen. Throughout her tenure at BMO, Kathy rose to senior ranks as a highly respected and valued creditor and formed many long-lasting friendships.
Kathy’s home away from home was her vacation place up north, alongside her sister Karen, where she enjoyed over 35 years of countless lasting memories with cherished friends and family. Known for her stellar campside fires and an open porch policy for drop-in visits any time.
Kathy will also be dearly missed by all her treasured friends with which she has formed many life-long lasting friendships. From dear childhood friends of over 55 years, to countless friends made over the years spent on trips riding horses, skiing, cycling, travelling, and vacationing across Canada, the United States and Europe. Kathy left her mark on the hearts of so many.
Kathy was also well known for her love for animals, encompassing all things 4 legged and 2 legged, from dogs, cats and horses to ducks and geese. She was known for being the animal whisperer, Mrs. Doolittle, The Bird Lady of Port Dalhousie and so much more. She will be just as sorely missed by all the feather and fur family that she walked, fed and took care of over the years.
Kathy was a loving, loyal and devoted daughter, sister, wife, aunt, niece, cousin and dear friend to so many and there will forever be a void in all the lives of everyone she connected with. Kathy touched many people’s hearts, and she will be truly missed, but always, always remembered.
“Sometimes stars shine so bright that they burn out before their time.” Kathy’s light shone so very bright and we know it will continue to shine through the memories everyone will carry with them.
