Obituary of Evelyn Margaret Beckett
Peacefully and with the love of her family, Evelyn (Lyn) passed away on April 14, 2022 in her 75th year at Millenium Trail Manor in Niagara Falls. Beloved wife of Ken Beckett. Devoted and loving mother of Richard Beckett (Stacy), Jeff Beckett (Robin), and her precious Jimmy Beckett (died in 1991). Very proud Grammy to Joshua and Autumn. Dear sister of Carol and her husband Brian Smith of Angel Fire, New Mexico, and loving “Auntie Inn” to her nephews Chris Smith (Jay), Andrew Smith (Denise), and her great-niece Hannah. Predeceased by her cherished parents Ray and Lillian Woodfield, great-niece Hayley Smith, and her aunts and uncles. Lyn is lovingly remembered by her many friends and extended family members.
Lyn was a kind, charitable person known for having meaningful conversations with anyone she came into contact with. As a teacher, active member of Grace Mennonite Church, long-time volunteer for the Help A Child Smile organization, and bereaved families support groups, her kindness and support will be remembered by many. She enjoyed going to IceDogs games with Ken, and spending time with her beloved family and friends.
Lyn is resting at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, where her family will receive friends and family on Thursday, April 28 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at the George Darte Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 29 at 11 a.m. with interment and reception to follow. If desired, memorial remembrances to Help A Child Smile, McMaster Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Millenium Trail Manor for their care and compassion, and a very special thank you to Ashley from Bayshore for the kindness, friendship, and care shown to Lyn.
