Obituary of Lucy Lane

Lucia "Lucy" Lane (Giacobetti)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lucy on Friday April 8th, at the age of 70 at Henley House, St. Catharines with family by her side.

Loving wife of Ken Lane for 49 years. Cherished Mother of Sue(Bill) MacDougall and Shirley Martin. Proud grandmother of Brynlea, Mason, Quinn, and Bryden. Dear sister to Juliana(late Rino) Leo, Maria(Jim) Phelan, and Tony(Sheila) Giacobetti. Lucy had many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews that she adored. She is predeceased by her parents Santino and Emilia Giacobetti.

Lucy was 4 when she immigrated to Niagara Falls, Canada from Ascoli, Piceno, Italy with her family. After getting married, Ken and Lucy moved to St. Catharines where they raised their two daughters.

Lucy was a fun loving and outgoing person. She loved attending her daughters sporting events as well as those of her grandchildren. She loved hosting pool and euchre parties, her annual Christmas Eve Open House, and attending large family events. Going to BINGO and the Casino were things she also enjoyed, as well as chatting with friends over coffee at Tim Horton’s. Lucy loved to travel, taking several trips with friends and family over the years.

Due to complications of Multiple Sclerosis, Lucy moved to Henley House where she has resided for the past several years. There she loved to participate in the recreation programs and day trips, visit the in-house hair salon, have visitors to the residence, and book outings home to spend time with her family. Lucy quickly won the hearts of the Nursing and PSW staff, with whom she developed a special bond.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Henley House for the relentless love, support, and care they offered Lucy throughout the years, especially the loving team on the Centennial Unit.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. Cremation has taken place and guests are welcome for visitation on Saturday April 16th, from 10a.m.-12p.m. with a memorial service immediately following.
