Obituary of Kenneth George Croft
CROFT, Kenneth: It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father, Kenneth George Croft at the age of 95 on March 28th 2022, beloved husband of the late Elinor Ruth Croft. He will be remembered lovingly and proudly by his children, Karen (Bob) Schneider, Barb (Ed) Werner, Susan (Joe) DiFruscio, Barry (Sandy) Croft, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Ken was born in 1926 in St. Catharines, Ontario but was raised and resided in Port Dalhousie. He excelled as an athlete but it was in lacrosse that he achieved his greatest success. Twice he won the Mann Cup which is emblematic of the Canadian National Lacrosse Championship. As recognition of his achievements he has been inducted into both the Ontario and the Canadian Lacrosse Halls of Fame. After his playing days were over, Ken continued his involvement with lacrosse through the St. Catharines Old Boys Lacrosse Association and the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame where he served on the board and as an ambassador at the Museum. As a young man Ken became a draftsman and eventually a process engineer at General Motors. After retiring in l982, Ken and his wife, Eli, travelled throughout Canada and the United States in their motor home until settling in Florida during the winters and Peterborough in the summers. He loved fishing, playing tennis and always enjoyed a game of cards. Cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date at George Darte Funeral Home. Donations in Ken's name can be made to The St. Catharines Old Boys Lacrosse Association. Our family extends a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the doctors, nurses and caregivers for their support and compassion over the past few years. |
