Obituary of Pablo Lesik
Pablo Lesik (July 8, 1933--March 22, 2022)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, papa, and abuelo.
Pablo passed away in his sleep on March 22, 2022 at the Niagara Health System in St. Catharines at the age of 88. Beloved husband of 60 years to his and only love Martha. Much loved papa to Alberto (Adriana), Norma (Hector). Loving abuelo to Sergio (Natalie), Leslie (Tyler), Daniel (Miranda), Andrew (Georgia), Michael (Elizabeth), and Anthony (Monica). Pablo had 7 great-grandchildren and the 8th one on its way, Kiyan, Leonel, Mila, Jackson, Austin, Sienna and Remy. He will be missed dearly by his sister Lidia, in California, and Rosalia, Tito and many nieces and nephews in Argentina.
Pablo was born in Argentina to Ukrainian immigrants Felipe and Olga in the province of Misiones. At the age of 18 years old he moved to Buenos Aires to start an apprenticeship in machine repairing in the textile industry. He later worked as a bus driver and owned a taxi before immigrating to Canada in 1974. Leaving Argentina without knowing any English and what the future brought, he settled in St Catharines to start a new life and then brought his wife Martha and their children Alberto and Norma. Starting from humble beginnings, they raised a beautiful family which he was very proud of. He always advocated to his children to educate themselves and have a love for learning new trades, to respect and love one another. His family continued to grow as his children got married and he was blessed with 6 beautiful grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He especially enjoyed family get-togethers. A fond memory that his grandchildren always remember, was when abuelo would wear his gorilla masks and chase them around!!!
He loved camping and always being outdoors, playing his accordion and being with family and friends. He was the best asado-maker (Argentine BBQ), loved working with tools and carpentry. He loved gardening, making homemade wine, tomatoes sauce and sausage. He was the co-founder of the first Latin-American club in the Niagara Region. He was proud of his heritage, was the president and treasurer for the club for many years and participated in the Folk Arts Festival. He built his own tent trailer, which he was very proud of and used it for many years. They travelled and camped throughout Ontario, Quebec, and different States in the U.S.A
He will be missed dearly by all who knew him, but will never be forgotten by family and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr Yu and Dr E. Raimondo whose exceptional care and kindness brought much comfort to Pablo and his family.
