Obituary of Bill Taylor
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill “Clicker” Taylor on Thursday, March 3, 2022 in his 82nd year. Love of his life and best friend to Dolly for over 57 years. Cherished and proud father to Jason “Fud” (Stephanie). Devoted Grandpa to Owen and Emerson. Clicker was predeceased by his parents; George and Laura Taylor and his in laws; Ivan and Mildred Conlon.
Loving brother of Joyce (Gord) Cowan, Bob (Maryellen), George (Donna), Bev (Bob) Mason, Harold (Carol). Brother in law to Shirley and Chuck Patterson, Joanne and Bob Valentine, Carol and Archie Melonie, Tom and Valerie Conlon, Joe and Loraine Conlon, Jim and Sandra Conlon, and Tim and Ann Conlon. As well as many, many nieces and nephews.
Born in Merritton (St. Catharines) November 11, 1940, Clicker was very proud of his hometown roots. He retired from General Motors after 40 years of service. A true family man, he cherished spending time with his family and going south in the winters with Dolly. Always a familiar smile at the arena supporting Owen and his teammates and around the barn as Emerson’s personal groom. He lived for his grandchildren, never missing a game or a horse show prior to his illness and often shared his disagreement openly with referees and show judges! He was a longtime Chicago Blackhawks fan, travelling to the Windy City as much as he could to catch a game and known by many as “Quick Click” on the snowmobile trail!
Special thanks to the many nurses and PSW’s (Carolyn) for the excellent care that made it possible for Clicker to stay in the comfort of his home. The family would also like to recognize the exceptional care provided by Dr. Turnbull and his team in the ALS clinic at McMaster Hospital.
In keeping with Clicker’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10th from 10:30am-2pm at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St, St. Catharines. Funeral Service will be held on March 10th at 2pm in the funeral home’s Ceremony Room. Reception to follow between 3-5pm at Coppola’s Ristorante & Banquet Facility, 203 Carlton St. St. Catharines.
For those wishing to attend virtually, a livestream link will be available below. If desired, donations in Clicker’s memory to the ALS Society or Hotel Dieu-Shaver Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
