Obituary of Sheena Sisavath
A beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend, Sheena Sisavath left this world unexpectedly after a medical emergency, at 26, on March 3rd, 2022. Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario on November 20th, 1995 to her father, Ning Boubane and mother, Somphone Sisavath. Sheena grew up in St. Catharines and attended E.I. McCulley, Carlton Public School and Laura Secord Secondary School. Sheena obtained a Bachelor’s degree at McMaster University and a Masters of Sociology at Brock University (the first to do so in her Laotian community).
Sheena had a wonderful spirit and made her presence felt in every room she entered. She was an excellent athlete who went to OFSAA in Track and Field. She was very artistic and was able to show this talent through her business The Pour Project.
Sheena lived with the love of her life Ben, in Kitchener. In that time she became a beloved member of Ben’s family and will be deeply missed by them.
When you think of Sheena, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.
Sheena leaves behind her parents, sister Soumetta Sisavath, brother Arby Houmphanh and nephew SJ; aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation for Sheena will be held at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St, St. Catharines 905-937-4444 on Friday, March 11th between 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, March12th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (Laotian service), 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (family tribute for Sheena), 11a.m. to 12p.m (friends remember Sheena), all to be held in the Ceremony Room of the funeral home. Everyone is welcome to attend all. Following the precession for anyone wanting to visit the family home at 10 Jennifer Crescent St. Catharines ON L2M 7Y9 for a wake. The family will be having a religious ceremony Sunday March 13 at the family home 10 Jennifer Crescent St. Catharines ON L2M 7Y9 beginning at 9:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations in establishing an award in Sheena’s name for the Sociology Program at Brock University. Donate online at www.brocku.ca/donate or cheques made out to “Brock University” with “In Memory of Sheena” in the reference line can be mailed to Development and Alumni Relations, Brock University, 1812 Sir Isaac Brock Way, St. Catharines, ON L2S 3A1.
“As long as we can love each other, and remember the feeling of love we had, we can die without ever really going away. All the love you created is still there. All the memories are still there. You live on – in the hearts of everyone you have touched and nurtured while you were here. Death ends a life, not a relationship”
MASKS MUST BE WORN TO ATTEND THE VISIATION AND/OR SERVICE.
