Obituary of Norah Ethna Tyminski
Norah Tyminski
With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother Norah Casey Tyminski on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the age of 99. Beloved spouse of the late John Peter Tyminski. Beloved mother of Michael (Mich), David, and John (April) Tyminski. Loving grandmother and great-grandmother of Nellie, Tara, Tayler, Brendan, Caitlin, Sydney, Brynn, and Owen.
Mom was born and raised in Sligo, Ireland and was one of 10 children. In her youth she was a registered nurse and became a flight attendant with Aer Lingus when commercial air travel was still in its infancy. Being an adventurer, Mom eventually settled in Niagara where she continued nursing at the Welland and Hotel Dieu Hospitals. After marrying Dad in 1956, Mom devoted herself to the loving care of her family. She was long time, active member of the St. Alfred’s Parish Community.
Mom has left us a rich legacy. She was a woman of abiding faith, deep conviction, and courage. She taught us the importance of being moderate in all things and instilled in us a love of nature and the outdoors. Mom showed us that keeping active, continuous movement, and a sense of adventure and curiosity are keys to healthy living. Most importantly, Mom taught us the fundamentals of our faith, how to pray, about putting the needs of others first, about sharing what we have with others, and about grace.
During these last weeks together, our Mom exemplified what it means to be fully present, patient, and how to persevere during decline. She taught us about resilience, acceptance, maintaining a positive outlook, and above all about being grateful for everything.
We wish to express our deepest gratitude to all of the present and former staff of Ina Grafton Gage Village. To all of the wonderful nurses, personal support workers, activation staff, dining room, custodial, screening and administration staff - your compassionate care for Mom and kindness to our family will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to your charity of choice. Or in lieu of this, reach out and thank your health care worker or a long-term care giver. Their hard work, dedication, and compassionate care of our loved ones is nothing less than heroic, especially during these incredibly difficult times.
Rest in peace dear Mom. “All’s well”.
