Obituary of Pasquale Ferretti
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Pasquale Ferretti, on Friday, February 18th, 2022 at Albright Manor, Beamsville, Ontario, at the age of 98 years.
We take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with our mother, his beloved wife, Iolanda (2000) whom he dearly missed. He was predeceased by his parents; Fioravante and Peppina, his brother Armando (sister-in-law Anna), his sister Emma Peracchia ( brother-in-law Cesarino), and his granddaughter Justyna. He is survived by his brother-in-law Mario (Lucia) Pallini.
He leaves behind with many fond and wonderful memories, his children Joe (Kathryn), Mary (Steve), Jim (Sharon) and Lena (Mike). He will forever remain in the hearts of his grandchildren; David (Tricia), Karina (Jamie), Joseph (Heather), Sarah, Rebecca (Mario), Kathleen (Jay), Jenina, Aaron, and fifteen great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended families.
Born and raised in rural Atri, Italy, he was the oldest child in a family of three. Out of economic necessity, he was exposed early in life to hard work and responsibility. As a young man, he witnessed firsthand the atrocities of war as a POW in WW2. Experiences that ultimately shaped his resilience, commitment to family, and his gratitude for the simplest of life’s blessings. In 1957, in the pursuit of the opportunity to build a better life for his children, he moved his young family to Canada. Canadian ‘not by birth but by choice’, he fully embraced his new homeland. Always eager to proudly display the Canadian flag and constantly reminding his children of just how fortunate they were to live in this great land. Pasquale leaves his family a legacy, that spanned nearly a century, of selflessness and love. Rest In Peace, Dad, you’re work here is done.
A special thank-you to all the staff on the second floor at Albright Manor, for their kindness, support and compassion given to our father during his stay.
