Obituary of William Dickson Kerr

Surrounded by his family, Bill passed away peacefully on February 13, 2022 in his 85th year. Dear brother to Ian, and brother-in-law to Sheila. Loved uncle to Graham (Victoria), Robert (Cindy) and June (Gord Arbeau). Great-uncle to Lindsay (Mark Papineau), Adam, Jeffrey (Katie), Matthew (Suzanne), Alison and Meagan. Predeceased by his parents; Robert and Wilhemina Kerr, and his brother Alexander ‘Eric’ (2010).

 

Bill emigrated from Scotland in 1963 and made a life for himself in Canada. A skilled cartographer for the Federal Government, Bill retired in 1996 after 32 years of service. He was a longstanding member of St. Timothy’s Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed many summers at Gracefield Christian Camp with his church family. Bill was also a long-time member and devoted supporter of the New Edinburgh Sailing Club.

 

In accordance with Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 23rd at 11am at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, with inurnment following the service. Those wishing to attend please call the funeral home at 905-937-4444 as capacity is limited. For those wishing to attend virtually, a livestream link will be provided below. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Timothy’s in Ottawa at a later date. If desired, donations to the Ottawa Mission, or Gracefield Christian Camp would be appreciated by Bill’s family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 4th 2022 at 2pm at  St. Timothy’s Presbyterian Church, 2400 Alta Vista Dr, Ottawa with light refreshments to follow the service.
