Obituary of Salvatore Pasquale Pilato
Pilato, Sam - With heavy hearts, in his 71st year, Sam Pilato passed away at the St. Catharines General Hospital on January 29th, 2022. He is predeceased by his father Giuseppe and mother Teresa; to whom he was a cherished son. Husband of 46 years to Gaetana (nee Cipriano). He will be deeply missed by his 3 children Teresa (Anthony) Perlingieri, Carmela (Salvatore) Bilardo, and Sammy (Sarah) Pilato. He was greatly loved by his 5 grandchildren Matteo, Alessandra, Nicholas, Milan and Adriana. Devoted brother to Alfonsina (the late Giuseppe) Caruana, the late Immacolata (the late Frank) Cottone, John (Grace) Pilato, Pasqualina (Antonio) Baiamonte, Frank Pilato, Carmela (John) Perri. Son-in-law to the late Fiore and Carmina (Montemarano) Cipriano. He will also be missed by his brother-in-law Frank (Maria) Cipriano, and by his many nieces and nephews. At the young age of 15, he began his career as a proud barber and built a lifelong career with many loyal clients who will miss his expertise and sense of humour. Sam always greeted everyone with a warm joyful smile and with that, he was a great friend to many. He would always be there when someone needed him and no matter what the issue, he would find the solution. He taught himself how to play the clarinet, piano and later learned how to play the saxophone. For a period of time, he played in a marching band for the Lincoln and Welland Regiment. He enjoyed vintage style cars, had an interesting coin collection and had one of the best moustaches anyone has ever sported. He had a passion to invent, create, sing, dance, play, laugh, love and be with his family. He was a kind, gentle and simple man with an enormous heart and zest for life. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital for their compassionate care.
