Obituary of Linda Proske-Slamka
Linda Proske-Slamka
(March 4th 1963 – January 16th 2022)
On January 16th, 2022, surrounded by her husband and children, Linda Proske-Slamka passed away peacefully at home, gaining her angel wings at the age of 58.
Linda will be missed by her loving husband Steve, her two daughters Amanda (Mark) & Hailey (Max), her mother Josefa Proske, siblings Herbert (Linda) Proske, Renate (Kevin) Hodges & Sonja (Jeff) Abbott, teta to Jennifer, Christopher, Justin, Ryan, Rebecca, Rachael & Alex, and friend to so many. Linda has reunited with her father Arno Proske up in heaven after 25 years apart. Linda will also be missed by her loving kitten Minki, but will receive lots of furry cuddles from Muza & Mishka up in heaven.
Linda was born on March 4th, 1963 at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in St. Catharines. She attended Lockview Public School, Grantham High School and graduated from Brock University in 1985 with her Bachelor of Arts degree. Linda was a proud stay-at-home mom to her two wonderful daughters and dedicated her life to taking care of her mother and family.
If she wasn’t tending to her Trillium award-winning flower gardens, Linda would be busy cooking up one of her famous dishes in the kitchen with the Walton’s or Little House on the Prairie playing in the background. If you asked Linda what her favourite thing to do would be, she’d tell you how much she loved to travel with her family, whether it was visiting relatives in Europe, cruising the Mediterranean, climbing the Sydney Harbour bridge or lounging on the beaches of Hawaii. She absolutely loved being in the sunshine!
Linda’s passion in life was to make every moment count and to live with no regrets. She made every birthday, anniversary and holiday (ESPECIALLY Christmas!) one to remember by always making sure the house was filled with an outrageous amount of sparkly decorations and twinkle lights. Linda truly made the world around her such a beautiful place to be that you couldn’t help but smile and be happy in her presence.
Linda was the best daughter, wife, mother, sister, teta and friend you could ever have. She has left an imprint on our hearts and has inspired us to be the best versions of ourselves. She taught us the importance of family, to be selfless and care for one another, to celebrate each occasion to the max and make everything as special as possible. She also taught us that there is no such thing as too much sparkle!
The family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral home, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines 905-937-4444 on Thursday, January 20th from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Vigil prayers at 3pm. Funeral Mass on Friday January 21st morning at 11am. St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine Street. Interment Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
