JONES, Mary Elizabeth "Bette" (nee McNulty)
1921-2012
It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our dear mother and friend at home on Wednesday April 18th surrounded by her loving family. Bette is survived by sons Tim (Janice) and Terry, daughters Wendy (Richard) Stark and Donna (Frank) Vandecoevering, grandchildren Amy(Wojiech), Beth (Jamie),Greg (Hollis), Michael (Irene), Sean(Lisa), Katie, Peter, Emma, Julia (Dave), Sebastian, Danielle, Jennifer, Matthew, Thomas, Jessica and Laura, and great-grandchildren Lucy, Miriam, Samson and Declan.
Bette was predeceased by her dear husband Bruce (1977), parents Harry and Agnes, brothers Patrick, Joseph and James and sisters Marguerite, Anne, Catherine, Agnes and Theresa. She is survived by her dear in-laws Betty-Lou McNulty and Don Thurman and many loved nephews, nieces and their families.
Bette was raised in Port Dalhousie and was trained as an accountant/bookkeeper working for a variety of firms around the city through the long years of her career spanning seven decades. She was an active member of St. Denis Church, St. Denis CWL and the social club, and also supported many charities. She was an avid golfer and will be greatly missed by her golfing buddies Lil and Pat and friend Marilyn. Special thanks to all the wonderful caregivers from Niagara Hospice/Palliative care especially Dr. Arvinte, Carma and Eleanor.
Bette's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, on Sunday, April 22nd from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Denis Catholic Church, 230 Lake Street on Monday, April 23rd at 11am. Rite of Committal to follow in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Sunday at 2pm. If desired, memorial donations to Hospice Niagara or the Heart and Stroke Foundation-Niagara Chapter would be appreciated by the family.
