Elsie Holomego

Obituary of Elsie Caroline Holomego

After four months of declining health Elsie (Elsa) Holomego has now been reunited with all of her siblings, Mike (2015), Joe (1977) and Stan (2008), dear mother Caroline (1997) and father Alex (1971). She leaves behind nieces and nephews Diane Krol (Frank), Tom Holomego (Judie), Laurie Jackson (Bill), Stan Holomego (Sherry), Rene McCready (Dave) and Scott Holomego. Elsie is also survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins, the Bemben family.  Elsa’s “family” extended to a large and loyal network of dear friends who have supported her with rides to medical appointments, phone calls and many cards and letters. She was always very active in her community through The Niagara District Council of Women, horticultural societies, choirs and theatre groups, The Bruce Trail Association as well as many skiing and tennis clubs over the years. Elsie was an avid traveler and could recount each trip including dates, attractions she visited, hotels she stayed at and names of their staff members. Many healthcare workers through LINH and Visiting Angels and the EMS Palliative Outreach Team assisted in making possible Elsie’s wish to remain at home to the end. For this, the family is truly grateful and feels blessed to have access to such an amazing healthcare system. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations are made to the Canadian Federation of University Women and/or Hospice Niagara. In keeping with Elsie’s wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted to GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton St. The family will receive guests for visitation on Tuesday, January 18th 2022 from 9:30am-11:00AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00AM in the funeral home ceremony room. A burial will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery following the service.

As per Covid restrictions those wishing to attend the service must RSVP to the funeral home at 905-937-4444 as capacity is limited. Proof of double vaccination is required to attend both the visitation and service
