Vera came to Canada arriving in Halifax on September 8, 1928 at the age of 9 years old on the Frederick VIII Scandinavian American.
Vera enjoyed spending time with her family. She spent many hours cooking and preparing delicious meals. She had a green thumb and could revive any ailing plants. She loved her garden and had an abundance of food to share. Her favourite was an apricot tree that she grew from a single pit on Grantham Avenue. Each year it produced a generous amount of fruit to be enjoyed by all.
Vera had a keen interest in real estate and moved multiple times throughout her life. Her last home purchase was at Villa Roma in St.Catharines, Ontario at the age of 94.
Having lived to be over 102, Vera experienced many trials and tribulations. Despite these challenges she continued to persevere through it all. Not even this last pandemic could dampen her spirits. She made the most of this last year at Henley House and was always up for a game of air hockey, ball catch, or a trip to the entertainment room to bang on the piano.
Resilient. Strong. Bold. Courageous. Determined. Stubborn. Outspoken. and Brave. That’s who Vera Lattimer was.
Vera will remain in our hearts forever.
