Steve Rochefort

Obituary of Steve Rochefort

Steve “Leon” Rochefort, January 6, 1950 - December 12, 2021

Steve’s memory lives on in his wife of 46 years Mary Jane (Sinclair), his children Derrick (Stacy Ross), Jennifer, and Brad, his grandsons Everett, Avery, and Teddy, sister Heather (Dick Overholt), sister-in-law Cathy (Tim Lukacs), Dorothy (Warren Forrest) and brother-in-law Jim (Barb Sinclair), his many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, his project management supervisor and great friend Mike McBride, his Wednesday Golf crew, and his many hockey teammates.

Husband, father, grandfather, golfer, hockey player, builder, community leader, coach, life of the party, well-loved Uncle Steve, and absolute best friend to so many of us. He was humble with his success and generous with his knowledge.

He was a Royal, a Sawmill golfer, a Shooter, a St. Catharines Golf Club board member, a Kenmore partner, Home Builder president, Community Leaders co-chair, supporter for Community Care, NHBA Wall of fame member, sports coach, Hospital Foundation board member, and so much more.

Remembered as a steady source of light, love, intelligence, and truth, of laughter and care and a kind word, always looking for the good in life, always knew what was developing, when the Leafs were playing, who was teeing off together, what you were drinking, and what made you smile.

His 50-year career in construction and project management saw him develop the community he loved. With his team, he built countless offices, schools, structures, and thousands of homes for the people of Niagara. He is remembered far and wide as one of the most respected men anyone had the pleasure of working with.

He considered his home his cottage and loved to jump in the pool, light the barbecue at cocktail time, turn up the Motown, and celebrate good times.

He is irreplaceable, as are the wonderful memories of his warmth and love.

Keeping with Steve’s wishes, an upbeat celebration of life will take place in Spring of 2022 at the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club. He will watch over us as we toast his wonderful life when the Snowbirds return.

Steve had the greatest respect for Betty-Lou Souter and wished for any donations to be sent to Community Care.
