Herbert Konzelmann

Obituary of Herbert Alfred Konzelmann

KONZELMANN, Herbert

Herbert Konzelmann passed on to be with his Lord and Saviour, at his residence surrounded by his family, on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of 58 years to Gudrun. Loving Father of Claudia (Dietmar), Uli (Jim) and the late Matthias (1998). Opa will forever be in the hearts of his grandchildren; Fabian (Stephanie), the late Carolina (2008), Mikaela, Lauren (Bowen) and Ty (Julia). He was an amazing Great Opa to little Hugo. He will be dearly missed by his sister Sigrid (Helmut), many nieces, nephews and extended family members in Germany.

Herbert was a kind and generous man who devoted himself to his family and winery. A pioneer in every definition of the word. Herbert was a guiding light for the Niagara wine industry since first arriving from Germany in 1984. He was fearless, passionate and dedicated to his craft. Herbert remained active in all aspects of winery operations to the end, not because he needed to, because he loved to.

The family would like to thank all the Dr.’s and Nurses from the LIHN for all the excellent care and compassion. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Monday, November 8, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A private family funeral will take place at a later date with burial at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation or to Full Gospel Church.
