Obituary of Mary Elma Persichini
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Elma on October 17, 2021 with family by her side. Daughter of the late Enrico and Anna Persichini. Dearest friend of the late Elsie Mercer. Predeceased by her brothers; Enzo (Everdina “Diny” Persichini), and Emio (the late Mary). Mary is also predeceased by her nieces; Deanna, and Linda Persichini. Aunt Mary loved all her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and she will be deeply missed.
Mary was a proud, past member of Club Roma, both socially and through volunteering. Her love of shorthand enabled her success throughout her career working for a law firm, Hotel Dieu Hospital, and finally retiring from General Motors after 23 years of service. She loved meeting people, and keeping in touch with old friends. She especially enjoyed her connections with “Timmins Coffee Club” that met at the Pen Centre weekly. Mary was a woman of great integrity, strong work ethic, and selflessness. She had a love of animals, especially her poodles, Suzette and Freddy.
Thank you to the staff at Henley House for their care and compassion for the past five years--going above and beyond their caring duties. Special thanks also to Sandra's Home Health Care for their companionship and support.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 24th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with Vigil Prayers at 7pm at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Julia Catholic Church on Monday October 25th at 11am with entombment to follow. Those wishing to attend the Funeral Mass must RSVP to the funeral home 905-937-4444 to attend as capacity is limited. In lieu of flowers, donations to Gillian's Place or the Charity of your choice.
