Obituary of Sandie Bellows

BELLOWS, Sandie

After a brave battle with cancer, Sandie passed away peacefully at Hospice Niagara, with her loving sons by her side on Monday, October 11, 2021 at the age of 60. Loving mother of Spencer DeWolfe, Colton DeWolfe and the late Amanda. Cherished daughter to Florence (the late Stephen). Beloved sister of Julie, Brian (Tracy) and Steve (Karen). Much loved aunt to Christopher, Katie, Cassidy, Brianna, Kieffer, Lydia, Ryan, Erin and Daniel. Sandie will also be lovingly remembered by her companion Barry Diamond. Sandie will be welcomed in heaven by her hero and the man who saved her life, Al Pike.

Sandie was the Chair of the Niagara Parks Commission and served on Niagara Regional Council as a St. Catharines representative. She formerly served on St. Catharines City Council, representing the Grantham Ward. She was the former Vice President of St. Catharines Minor Hockey.  Sandie will be remembered as a community leader, public speaker and advocate for victims’ rights. Among her accomplishments, she was the City-appointed Executive Member on the Niagara Grape and Wine Festival Board. Sandie also helped redevelop the Table Rock Centre and restore the Niagara Parks Power Station, transforming it into a tourist attraction. Sandie loved going to the market on Saturday mornings and hosting family and friends. Her door was always open to anyone. Above all else, Sandie will be remembered for her devotion to her family.

Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Saturday, October 16 & Sunday, October 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. A Celebration of Sandie's life will be held on Monday, October 18th at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre, 250 St. Paul St., St. Catharines at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Niagara Parks Foundation.
