It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Yianni (John) Karagiannis at the St. Catharines General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Leaving behind his wife, Eugenia (Jenny), children Mary (Themis) Argyrides, Tom (Ashton), and Jim (Mary). Grandchildren Christina, Michael, Jennifer, Nicholas, Andrew, Emma and Zoe. Also left behind behind are his nephews, nieces and relatives in Australia and Greece. Predeceased by his father, Athanasios and mother, Marina and his brother and sister. John was born in Kozani, Greece and immigrated to Canada in 1967. John began working as an electrician and started Niagara Lighting, which is now known as Home Lighting and along with his family, had a huge role in making it a successful for many years. John was a strong man with a great deal of dedication to his passion for lighting which led him to work and successfully own his own and run a factory in China. Up until his final days, John dedication and love for his work was evident as he was still seen working and persevering through his sickness. This was all done for his family. He will be greatly missed by many but most of all by those who knew him best and loved him endlessly. In keeping with John’s wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines.
