Obituary of Maria Addolorata Ferrante
Surrounded by her family at the Niagara Health System, on Wednesday August 25th, 2021 in her 95th year, Maria closed her eyes and went to be with the Lord. Maria was a devout Catholic who used prayer to comfort her through her difficult times. She will be tremendously missed by all that knew and loved her. She will be reunited with her husband Ernesto who passed away in 2019. Cherished and loving mother to Antonio Ferrante (late MaryAnn) and Victoria Magnotta (Mike), loving and proud Nonna to her 6 grandchildren, Grace Valentini (Dino), Arnaldo Magnotta, Maria Greene (Rob), Michelle Latocha (Peter), Anthony Ferrante (Melinda), Maria Ferrante and 16 great-grandchildren, Michael, Joseph, Victoria, Antonio, Vincenzo, Gianna, Lorenzo, Luciano, Ava, Michael, Samantha, David, Jacob, Gabriel, Dominik, and Milana. Her grandchildren and great grand children were the love of her life. She is predeceased by her parents Giovanni and Cecilia LaSelva and siblings Giuseppe LaSelva (Carmela), Nicolino LaSelva (Giuseppina). Her In-laws Antonio Ferrante (Emilia), her sister in law Vittoria and brother in-law Vincenzo Ferrante (Antoinette). She will be dearly missed by her siblings Antonietta DeMeo (Michele), Filomena DeLisio (late Antonio), Antonio LaSelva (Giuseppina) and many nieces and nephews.
Maria emigrated from Castellino Del Biferno Italy in 1965, where she started her life over to provide a better life for her family; she worked tirelessly on various fruit farms during the daytime hours and at night worked at a canning factory to rebuild the life she had envisioned. Her love and passion for gardening, cooking and fashion (in her younger days) made for amazing meals that she shared with her family and our most fondest memories are of her baking, cooking, our walks to Mac’s Milk and her determination to never give up no matter what the circumstances. She is a true example of class and elegance.
We like to give special thanks to Extendicare First Floor for their compassionate and loving care, especially through these difficult times. They went above and beyond to make sure we all received our weekly FaceTime calls with Nonna.
Grandparents are one of the greatest gifts your heart will ever know. - Unknown
