Obituary of Colin John Cook
29 September, 1933 – 7 August, 2021
It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of Colin John Cook on August 7, 2021. Colin will be dearly missed by his wife of 63 years, Maureen; daughters Lesley Thomas and Sally Turney and their husbands Kevin and Ross. Colin was beloved Grandad to Katy (Rob), Laura (Andy) and Christopher (Ketran) and Great Grandad to Olivia, Michael, Grace and Lake. Colin’s brother Roger, and his wife Anne, and their family in England, as well as step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren in Canada, will miss him as well.
Born in Mitcham, Surrey, England, Colin had a happy and fulfilling life, living in England, the US and since 1986, in Ontario. In his younger life, he was in the RAF for his National Service, and then became a petro-chemical engineer. Colin was an active Freemason for almost 60 years, in both England and Canada. He was involved with the Scouting movement for a good part of his life, and while living in Oakville, Colin volunteered at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for 17 years on the dialysis unit.
Colin was all about his family, and loved being with them, hearing their stories, going on trips with them and sharing many, many laughs. Known for his quick wit and humour, Colin’s one-liners will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank Dr. J., the nursing staff and all the staff of the Royal Henley Retirement Community. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 2 pm at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, and will be live streamed to allow family and friends at a distance to view the service. Due to current Covid restrictions, if you wish to attend the funeral in person, please call the funeral home 905-937-4444 to reserve a spot as capacity is limited. Masks/face coverings are required by all guests while in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to Parkinson Canada.
Rest in peace Colin.
