Obituary of Ingeburg Margarete Klauck
Ingeburg Margarete Klauck
With forget-me-nots and lilacs in full bloom, her devoted daughter by her side and just three months after her beloved husband, Helmut Carl's death, the family of Ingeburg Margarete Klauck (nee Kraeling), aged 87, announce her passing in St. Catharines on Saturday, May 12, 2012.
Inge was born in Germany on June 26, 1924 and joined her husband and son in immigrating to Canada in 1957. Inge is survived by her daughter Kathy and son-in-law Brooks, son Joerg and daughter-in-law Ann, grandsons Colin and Joel, a younger sister Margot and brother-in-law Karl as well as nieces and nephews who will all miss her dearly.
Inge lived a life in which she faced many challenges and through which she endured many losses - chief among them that of her much-loved father and Oma during World War II. Leaving behind her mother, sisters and extended family and establishing a new life in Canada with her own young family presented many difficulties but our Mom learned a new language, acquired new skills in the electronics industry, and dazzled all with her mastery of the kitchen, especially fruit tortes and special-occasion cookies savored by all of her family and friends. After moving to Newmarket in 1970, Mom found great joy in working with her friends Gertrud and Dierdre at the Newmarket Delicatessen and being able to draw on her heritage.
Inge's great love in life was her family - as a wife of 62 years, as a mother and, to her enduring delight, as an Oma to Colin and Joel. Her journey with Alzheimers during these final years was shared by her family, friends and, ultimately, an exceptional group of caregivers who gave Inge support, encouragement and, above all, love which she always recognized and returned with a happy smile and a spontaneous laugh.
Her passing now ends that difficult journey and we gratefully thank the nursing and support staff of Heidehof Home for the Aged for all their thoughtful and professional care during these past eight years. Arrangements are entrusted to the George Darte Funeral Home and, though there will be no visiting hours, a memorial service will be held September 29 to celebrate her life and 63rd wedding anniversary. Donations in Inge's name, if desired, may be made to the Benevolent Society Heidehof and the Alzheimer Society Ontario.
