My sincerest condolences to Steves family & friends on the immeasurable loss you have suffered. Please know that I am praying for your peace and comfort during this difficult time
Steve was passionate about everything he did. He always reminded those around him of the faith he had in them to reach their goals. He encouraged everyone to aspire to perfection, to be independent and creative. Above all he loved to see & hear something that was new or exciting.
It was an honor to have known him.
You will be sorely missed.
Michaela

Our family, the Wongs, literally grew up with the Masons on Elizabeth Street. Our moms were best friends. Although I'm one of the youngest Wongs, Steve was like another brother to my six older sisters.
My mom would visit mama Mason every night. My little brother and I used to tag along and hang out at the Mason house, eating the delicious baking Steve's mum made. Our family spent every Christmas Eve at their house, eating sausage rolls and baked goodies while watching A Christmas Carol on TV (it had to be the original one with Alastair Sim, that was Steve's dad's favourite).
Both of our moms are gone now. My dad is still here, at 94. When my sister Ann Marie died last November, we could only invite a tiny number of people to her funeral due to COVID regulations. Of course we had to have the Masons there: they're family to us.
I held it together pretty well until I saw Steve walk into the church, head straight for my dad, bend down in front of my dad's wheelchair, and clasp both my dad's hands in his. Steve just knelt down there in front of my dad, with his mask on, and held my dad's grief in his hands for a few minutes. Well, that's when I lost it.
As a dad himself, Steve was acknowledging my dad's sorrow at losing his child. Steve got it. He zeroed in on that. I'll never, ever forget that he did that. I'm so, so sorry for Stephen, Emily and their kids now.
Within the past nine months, my family has lost a sister and Brian and Lisa have lost a brother. Correction: my family just lost a brother too. His name was Steve. He was a good man. He had a good heart.

Steve was an amazing person, he (like all the Masons) treated me like family and I looked up to him and respected him immensely. He had a huge heart and always enjoyed telling stories of his travels, he was always very good at telling you what restaurant to go and try whether it was in Florida or the Caribbean. Steve RIP, you left a legacy to your family that will go unmatched. Although you left us all too soon, you have indeed earned your wings. I wish the Mason family Grace and Courage during this most difficult time. xoxo Paula Asadourian
