Obituary of Roger Blake Evans

EVANS, Roger

Peacefully at his home in St. Catharines, in his 85th year, Roger Blake Evans, beloved son of the late Blake and Eileen Evans. Dearly loved husband of Thyra (nee Jensen) and beloved father of the late Michael (2000) (Kathleen), Kathy (Peter), John (Rhonda), and Peter (Beth). Devoted “Buppa” to his grandchildren Kara, Juliet, Jordan, Claire, Joshua, May, Michael Ben, Gabriel and Gideon. Will be deeply missed by his sisters Jo Ann and Donna (Ken) and their families, his brother-in-law John (Elaine) Jensen and by his many nieces and nephews, especially Douglas and Gail and Jeff and Karen.

Roger was a faithful employee of General Motors for more than 40 years. He was an avid naturalist and advocate for the environment of the Niagara Region where he had spent his whole life.

Special thanks to the nursing staff of St. Elizabeth’s palliative care team, especially nurse Alex, Dr. O. Waler, Rev. Ken MacQuarrie of Knox Presbyterian, Dr. Kate Evans, and to all Roger’s friends and neighbours who sent well wishes and prayers. In accordance with Roger’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held in the future. Arrangements have been entrusted to GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, and in the spirit of Roger’s life, we ask that you spend a day with your loved ones in nature, and collect a bag of trash.
