It is with profound sadness that the family of Teresa Montana announces her peaceful passing on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at the age of 94. She was born in Realmonte, Sicily, Italy on March 9, 1927. She is now finally reunited with her beloved husband Raymond of 67 years. Loving mother of Susan (Marco) Marrone and Josie (John) Menchella. Cherished and proud Nonna of Christopher Marrone, Eric Marrone, Jonathan (Christina) Menchella, Jordan Menchella, Jessica (Joey) DeLazzari. Teresa will be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law Pietrina and Marlene Montana, nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. Predeceased by her parents Paolo and Giuseppina Salemi and siblings Alfonso (Alfonsa) Salemi, Francesca (Nofrio) Puccio, Carmela (Libertino) Vingeri, Maria (Domenico) Schembre, Cologero (Antonietta) Salemi, Giuseppe (Marianna) Salemi and Angelina (Gerlando) Cirasolo. Also predeceased by in-laws Andrea and Assunta Montana, Salvatore Montana, Rosa (Mike) Sauter and Charles Montana.
A loving, compassionate, friendly, wise and strong woman, she devoted herself to her family, friends and faith. She approached each day with exuberance and a sparkle in her eyes. With an abundance of creativity, her passions included gardening, knitting, sewing, cooking and baking while always remaining in service of others and willing to lend a hand.
As a former longtime resident of Fort Erie, Teresa enjoyed being part of the local community through St. Michael’s Church and the Italo-Canadian Club. After moving to St. Catharines, she became a beloved member of Star of the Sea Parish, the Catholic Women’s League, the Prayer Shawl Knitting Group and Club Roma.

The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Wednesday, June 23 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, 34 Elgin Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, June 24 at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. If desired, memorial donations to Star of the Sea Parish (St. Catharines), St. Michael’s Parish (Fort Erie) or the Niagara Health Foundation, would be appreciated by the family.
As per the Province of Ontario Covid-19 regulations – visitation is limited to 15% building capacity and funeral attendance is limited to 45 guests. All guests attending the visitation and funeral must wear a mask and must call the funeral home to make an appointment, (905) 937-4444.
