Obituary of Paul Wesley Sax

Paul Wesley Sax

31 March 1935 to 19 May 2021

As all our family and friends will attest, what a remarkable man.  Dad handled all his roles expertly as a son to Frank and “Gerty”, a brother to Don (Lee), Norman(Bessie), and Rodney (Kay), an Uncle to Susan (Tom), as a father to Kim (Leslie), Kelinda (mother Barbara), Dave (Dani), Peter (Barb) and Doug (Patty), as a grandfather and great grandfather to Alicia, Nick, Sam, Jeremy, Nikki (mother Trish), Kyle, Jordan, MacKenzie, India, Sierra, Robin, Gavin, Natalie, Adalynn, John, Melody, and Fox, but most of all as a best friend and husband to Shirley (A.K.A. Sue)

An Albertian Farmer first and always, "misplaced" in Ontario for love, he continued to long for his western roots.  His eventual resting place will be in Lougheed, Alberta in the fall once the covid restrictions are lifted. Updates to where and when a celebration of life can take place will be announced in the months to come.

One of his friends asked if he collected anything and the answer was two things, people and guns.  In both cases the collections were rare and extraordinary.  His humble approach, his soft and playful attitude and his ability to MacGyver anything, has created incredible stories that will be told for years.  For those family and friends who were privileged to be accompanied by Dad on their journey, we the family leave the following simple words that will trigger memories of  this joyful life of the man we all love; Pollywog, Wog’s Grog, Paulene, Papa, Papa2, Wog, Paulie, back stretcher, Rice Lake, Borgward, Indian River, Lougheed, Madeira Beach, clouds, sailboat, motorcycle, tractor transmission, Studebaker, sulphur well, needle bearings, mexican opera music, catching rays, gramma and the boat ride, senior safety bubbles, metal detector, crows, shusshi, bus stop coffee break, walkabout, Alberta Premium, oysters, Izetta, swiss chard, the pond, and of course lovey & my bride.

In keeping with Paul's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines. If desired, donations in Paul's memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
