Obituary of Roberta Fitzsimons
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roberta on March 30th 2021 in her 66th year with her family by her side. Roberta fought a courageous battle with cancer for over four years with many bad days, but was optimistic and made the most of every second making memories with her family and many friends on the good days.
Survived by her devoted husband, Philip, two loving daughters Tracey Renneboog (Steve) and Julie Gaffney (Jeff). Proud Nanny to Declan, Saragh and Jameson and sister to Vera Campbell (Raymond); special sister-in-law to Mariea and Michael McNelis, Carmel and Joseph Fitzsimons and Damien and Isabel Fitzsimons. Loved by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents James and Sadie Gordon.
Roberta met her husband Philip in Ireland and they married in 1972. They then emigrated to Canada with their young daughter, Tracey. They have shared over 50 wonderful years together through sorrow and happiness and their genuine love and devotion for one other is admired by all.
Roberta had many talents, and her passion was in decorating and organizing. She loved her job and her team of friends at Clippings Miller House. Prior to her work with this wonderful team, Roberta had a home day care for 35 years and played a special part in many children's lives. She loved her gardens and her beautiful home. Roberta also enjoyed helping others and volunteered as well as fund raised for many organizations throughout her life.
Roberta was not only a soulmate to her husband, a loving mother and fantastic Nanny, she was also the best and loyal friend anyone could have. She will be greatly missed by too many friends to mention.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors and teams at St. Catharines General Hospital and the Walker Family Cancer Centre for all of their kindness and support.
Cremation will take place and a private service will be held at George Darte Funeral Home for family only.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Roberta's name can be made to the St. Catharines Walker Family Cancer Centre.
