Obituary of David Charles Stuart Hendry
HENDRY, David Charles Stuart
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the age of 71. He will be missed by his wife, Deborah Marshall, her family Dan and Katie Logan and thier children. He will also be dearly missed by his siblings, Sheana Monks, Irene and Robert (David Morris), his niece Kathyrn (Larry) Masseo, nephew Jon (Sandy) Chesham, great nieces Kaitlyn, Lauren, Alyssa and great nephew, Jake.
Dave graduated from Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School and earned his BA in History at Brock University. He worked in various capacities at GM, starting as a security guard and retired after many years in Inspection. He enjoyed his retirement jobs as a long haul trucker and school bus driver.
David's competitive spirit was never far from the surface. From running cross country in high school and rowing in the famous Brock 8 of 1972, to his passions of biking, golf, chess and the occasional verbal challenge, he played to win. He was the king of bad puns. He loved cycling and before cancer took its toll on him, David spent many summers riding with the St Catharines Freewheelers. He loved to talk about his cross Canada cycling trip from Vancouver to Niagara. Dave was fiercely loyal to and cared deeply about his family and friends.
In accordance with David’s wishes, cremation has taken place and the arrangements are entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME. Covid prevents us from having a Celebration of Life, Dave style at present. The family looks forward to a time when they can get together with friends and share Dave stories. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the St. Catharines Rowing Club.
