Obituary of Karl Paul Pettay Jr.
It is with broken hearts but also a hidden blessing we announce the passing of Karl Paul Pettay Jr and Isabel "Ann" Pettay (nee Corner) almost 24 hours apart from each other on January 17/18 2021. Loving parents to Lori Ann Thompson (Allan), Jon Kevin Maiuk, David Lloyd Maiuk, Michael Scott Maiuk and Shelly Lynn Maiuk (John Robert McGean). Devoted Nana and Papa to 8 grandchildren, Great Nana and Great Papa PP to 7 with 2 great great grandchildren.
Karl is predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Slavinjak. Isabel is survived by her brothers Lloyd Corner (Marlene) and Micheal Corner (Darlene) and sister Geraldine Laforme. Predeceased by her sister Carol. Also survived by many nieces, nephew and cousins.
Karl was a butcher from the time he was 13 years. Cutting meat was his passion. Even after retiring from the business at A&P he still found a way to make a living by cutting meat when he worked at Costco. He was very well known in the community. Ann worked as a nurses aide in Thorold and Tabor Manor for many years.
This is a true love story. Karl and Ann would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2021. They always said they would go together. And they did!
