Obituary of Emma Irene Rye
Emma Irene Rye 1931 – 2021
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Emma Rye on January 18, 2021 at Ina Grafton with her family at her side. Emma will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Susan (Randy), Sharon, Stephanie (Grant), daughter-in-law Marian and son Doug (Penny). Her pride and joy were her grandchildren Jason, Amanda (Justin), Sarah, Brian (Stephanie), Adam (Ashley), Melissa (Mike), Meaghan, Matthew, Christopher, Emily, Laura and Steven, and her great grandchildren Avery, Kayla, Erika, Connor, Ben, Isla, Everley, Porter, Owen and Olivia. Emma will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, Sydney (2018) and her son David (2000). Emma was a registered nurse and graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Hamilton in 1953. She dedicated her working life to pediatric nursing. Emma enjoyed her life. She loved to travel, camp and fish with her husband. Reading, painting and creating stories for her grandchildren brought her joy. What was most important to Emma was her family. Her life revolved around us and she will be greatly missed. A special thank you to all of the staff at Ina Grafton LTC. The Registered Nursing Staff, PSWs, Activity, Dietary, Housekeeping and Laundry staff, too many to mention by name. Emma loved all of you. Your kindness, compassion and loving care will not be forgotten. You are truly angels who walk amongst us. Arrangements have been entrusted to GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. A private funeral mass will be held on Saturday January 23, 2021. In lieu of flowers donations to World Vision Canada are greatly appreciated.
