Obituary of Ferdinand Neheli

NEHELI, Ferdinand Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Heidehof on June 15, 2012 in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Christina for over 58 years. Loving father of Violet and her husband Peter Tungate, Richard and his wife Tannis Neheli, and Deborah and her husband Gery Mercnik. Devoted and proud Opa of Scott, Curtis, Andrew, Christopher, Philip, David, Mitchell and Jessica. Dear brother of Josephine and her husband the late Ernie Weiss and Maggie and her husband Jim Dobson and brother-in-law of Wilma and her husband Roy Rakovic. Special uncle of Werner Weiss and Jeffrey and David Dobson. Predeceased by his sister Magdalene and by his parents Martin and Magdalena, also by his father-in-law and mother-in- law Edward and Cecilia Lubich. A true community leader, Ferdinand was a founding member and past president of the German Canadian Club Rheingold, which was founded in 1952. For 26 years Ferdinand served on the Board of Directors of Heidehof. His contributions to the Edelweiss Foundation were greatly appreciated. Ferdinand's love of music was expressed through his commitment to the Heidelberg Rheingold Singers. He was an accomplished ballroom dancer. A master of ceremonies on so many occasions, Ferdinand was a gentleman and a friend to all. He touched the lives of so many people and he will be dearly missed. A very special thank you to Anna, Sue and the entire Home Support staff at Heidehof for their compassionate care. Ferdinand's family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. on Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine St., at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2012. A private Rite of Committal to follow at a later date. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heidehof Home for the Aged.
