Lois was a wonderful joyous person to know. As part of our North American family I in the UK benefitted from Lois and her family arranging for me to spend time in Canada as I studied in the UK in the late 60's . Since then Lois has been a source of great humor and friendship. I'll always remember her laughter and generosity.

A fitting tribute to a truly lovely lady. Many happy memories of visits to the UK, over the years, and shared news by letter and telephone. We always regarded Loie as the Canadian branch of our UK family. Rest in peace dear Loie.

I met Loie in 1992. She cooked a wonderful turkey dinner around Christmas time and Nora had invited us to come for dinner. It was lovely and you could see how everything had been prepared and planned so that Loie could have time to visit. She was an excellent host! We were privileged to receive some of Loie's amazing knitting projects including Christmas stockings, Easter rabbits to decorate a door, intricate sweaters, and afghans! She was such a great knitter! What I remember most is her enthusiasm and vivaciousness which almost never wavered. Even when she no longer recognize me, she told me about how proud she was of her grandchildren Benn and Jane and her daughter Nora and son-in-law Joe! I recall Benn and Jane picking up Loie spinning her around and then messing up her hair, a sure sign of affection. I recall attending Christmas mass with her and Stephen. She could sing the words with no reference book and we got front row seats. She recited a poem, Little Boy Blue, at 92 yo, quite impressive. God Bless and God speed Loie, may your bright light shine in the darkness. Our condolences to everyone who was lucky enough to know her! Love Leny, Maddie and Sarah xoxoxo

Stephen and Nora,
I am so sorry to hear this news. We all know our parents will die sometime, but that doesn't mean it isn't one of the hardest things to go through.
I will always remember your Mom for her energy and smile - I don't think I ever remember a time that she didn't have that infectious smile on her face, and can hear her voice now, enthusiastically talking about something!
I wish you the comfort of your favourite memories over the next while.

I was a student of Lois's at Merritton High School from 1948-1952 and I thoroughly enjoyed having her as a teacher. Her late husband Norman was also a History Teacher of mine. My condolences go out to the family at this time and know they are in my prayers.

Sending our sincere and very heartfelt condolences to Stephen and Lisa, Nora and Joe, Benn and Jane. Loie was one of my favorite people ever - right at the very top of anyone I have ever known. She was always so kind, thoughtful, interested and caring. Always turned the attention to who she was speaking with. Very kind and nice always to Barb and our girls Carly, Emily and Julia from the time they were born. They are very sad as they loved Loie ! Loie was the very best, life-long friend to my mom - they loved each other and were always talking and laughing - they must be so happy to be reunited now. Loie was one in a billion. She lived a wonderful, happy, productive and long life. She was and will still always be a special part of the lives of her family and friends. We loved all the great family get togethers over the years and think of them often. Remembering Norman often also. Thank you Loie for being such a special person in our lives. Always loved and never to be forgotten! Larry Dugo, Barb, Carly, Emily and Julia.

This is a beautiful tribute to a remarkable person.
It’s difficult to put into words what Loie meant to me, throughout my life. Some of my earliest memories are of Loie, her laughter, her warm hugs, and her generous heart. She made clothes for Judy and me when we were toddlers, and she knit sweaters for all of us every Christmas. My grandchildren now proudly wear sweaters that she knit for their fathers. She and Norman welcomed me into their home countless times over the years, and then my son Matthew too, when he moved to Toronto for school. We all are richer for having had Loie in our lives.

Loie was a very, very special woman who had such a great joy for life. It inspired all of those around her. She was my mother, Mary Dugo’s closest cousin & best friend all their lives. They shared stories, laughter & life with daily phone calls & countless visits & social occasions through the years.
Loie was an extremely positive & optimistic person all of her life. She was always “up on all the news” with family & friends. Her social network was amazing ... long before Facebook & social media came along.
And Loie was a friend to all. She was my favourite cousin & my Confirmation sponsor. She taught me much through her positive approach to life ... a great way to be remembered ... & I certainly will!
My condolences to Stephen & Lisa, Nora & Joe, Benn & Jane. What a treasure!

Dave and I only knew this lovely lady a short time. We were the lucky couple to buy her Condo before she moved to Ottawa to join her daughter and the family. Too bad we didn’t know her before. Lois was so easy to like
Thank you whoever wrote this beautiful obituary! What a lovely tribute to a lovely lady.
Sincere condolences to her daughter and son and family. You sure had a treasure.
She was so excited to move to Ottawa.
