Obituary of Darek Ziembicki

Darek Ziembicki

Passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the age of 48. Darek was the loving son of Eryka and the late Wieslaw (2007). Best friend and cherished brother to Ela “Liz” Whittaker. An amazing uncle and godfather to Westen and much loved uncle to Alexa. Darek absolutely adored his niece and nephew, treating them like they were his own children. He always made time for them, whether it was for sleepovers or playing soccer. He was always spoiling them with love.

Darek will be remembered for his sense of humour, his storytelling, and his smile. He lit up any room he walked into and was well-liked by all who knew him. Darek was so proud of his Polish heritage, and was passionate about Polish culture and traditions. He fell in love with soccer at a young age, sharing this love with his father. He would go on to play soccer for many years, and never missed a World Cup or Euro Cup. Darek loved to travel, ski, and enjoyed the outdoors. He lived in BC for 13 years, and always had a strong fondness for the memories and friends he made there.

Above all else, he will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family. He was fiercely protective of his sister and mother, making sure they were always taken care of even when they lived far apart.

Cremation has taken place. A funeral service for Darek will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Thursday, November 12 at 6 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
