Obituary of Virgilio Roxas Manalo
It is with heavy hearts the family of Virgilio Manalo announce his peaceful passing on the date of Sunday October, 11th 2020. Virgil leaves behind his cherished wife of nearly 60 years, Narcisa; loving children Cris (Nora), Rose Hocson (Romeo), Teddy (Lorna), Arnel (Maritess), Noel (Hannah), Imee Uddipa (Elmer). Loved spending time with his many grandchildren: Aira, Airisse, Mervin, Regine, Teyvir, Tisha, Tyler, Nartha, Marinel, Noah, Arianna, Aaliyah, Vince and Calvin. He was a great brother to: Amelia San Pedro, Gregorio, Lucila Ramajo, Merlita Cariaga, Rodolfo, Lydia, Pedro Jr, Pelita Mangayao and was predeceased by Edgardo.
Virgilio was born in the Philippines and began his life with Narcisa in 1961, and eventually they had immigrated to Canada in 1996. Together, they raised many children and supported their families back home. Virgil was a man of integrity and great faith, always willing to put his family first. He was known to be very social, very diverse, well-travelled and great mentor. Virgil, being the great leader he was, instilled a hard work ethic and solid values in each and everyone he encountered. He was never the type to complain when the work got tough and his family will honour his legacy by continuing to pass down the values and lessons they have learned by such a strong monarch of the family. Despite his battle with cancer, Virgil had maintained the fighting spirit and the will to be healed and survive. The family would like to extend many thanks to the palliative care nurse Andrea Bjel, who had rendered exceptional love and care. As well as our special friend, Luz Makimkim for the invaluable support during this trying time for the family.
With keeping in Virgil’s wishes, arrangements have been entrusted with GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton St. St. Catharines. The family will receive guests for visitation from 2-4pm & 7-9pm Wednesday, October 14th with prayers being held at 8pm.
