Obituary of Yvonne Edith Watson

WATSON, Yvonne Edith

January 4, 1926 - October 9, 2020

With sadness the family of Yvonne shares that our mom passed away peacefully at LInhaven Home in Saint Catharines. Yvonne a.k.a.Bubbles was pre deceased by her beloved mum Valince Northey, her father William Gibbons and treasured stepfather Frank Northey all of whom had emigrated to Canada in their early 20s from England and Wales.  Also predeceased by her three sisters June, Jacqueline, and Donna. Predeceased by her daughter Valen Watson 2017.

Bubbles was a charming, creative person, gifted musically and artistically, wrote beautiful poetry throughout her life as well as being very athletic, an avid sportsperson, and competitive bridge player well into her 70's. Following high school she trained as a secretary, becoming proficient in shorthand and held several interesting jobs until her mid 20s. In 1949 she married William T Watson (deceased 2013) and together they had 5 children and shared very full lives for 40 years. In 1998 Yvonne married Christopher Cooke (deceased 2013) and they were fortunate to enjoy travel and many activities together.

Mourned by her children: Deborah Watson (New Westminster, BC), CindyLeigh Cohn (Mount Shasta CA), Peggi Garner (John) St Catharines and Will Watson (Burnaby BC)  and Son in law Bob Caseres (San Pedro CA) Grandchildren: Peter (Erin), Jordan (Jessica), Erik, Adam, Elijah, Chantal, Rebekah, Zack, Luke and Mimi, and three great grandchildren, Jonathan, Thomas, and Matthew.

We are grateful for the excellent care she received at Heatherwood Assisted Living, St Catharines General floor 5B, and the T Roy Adams Center at Linhaven Home for the Aged. A heartfelt Thank you.
