Words cannot express our sadness at Ian's passing. He has started on a new journey ... one in all our hearts filling it with memories. In your time of grief, know that our thoughts are with you; we had hoped to be at Tuesday's gathering, but that will not be possible. We will miss our animated, (comedic} 'short' (hah!) ... telephone chats. What amazed us is that he NEVER lost his sense of humour throughout this last chapter; may we all cherish this.
Our memories of Ian: crazy, goofy, witty, lovable, a true friend and compadre, and above all a very special loving man who touched so many people's lives. Hug each other, lean on each other, share your heartaches, tears & most of all the memories; hoist that glass of Guinness, and know that Ian would want you to move forward bravely. His memory will always be there, for all of us.
Attached is a photo of a cherished moment with Ian and Debbie, at our wedding reception. Hear, hear to our best man!
Love,
Blair and Rasa

I remember hiring Ian as a technician when I was working at Brock Centre for the Arts in the early ‘80’s. He was a year behind me at Ryerson, and I was so happy to be able to hire him. I could always rely on Ian, and he always had ideas to make things run better. I know the clients of the art centre loved working with him. My condolences to Debbie and the family.

I knew Ian at Brock back in the 80s when I was a student and later when I was bringing shows up to the university. He was always great to work with, always willing to take the time to teach.
My sympathy to his family.

Ian was not only my mentor and colleague at BCA, he was also a friend.
Had such a good time reminiscing with him at the closing of Brock's theatres.; his wit was still razor sharp, and we had more than a few laughs.
My condolences to Deb, the kids, and the entire clan.
Sláinte,
Sue Beres
