Ute Joerg and Kathy...
So sorry to hear of the passing of my "olde" employer Country Carl.
I worked for Carl in 1974 /75 in an old horse barn in Cedar Valley recycling organic waste from food stores using red wriggler worms to make usable, environmentally friendly, natural compost. Carl was the King of WORM POOP. Don Surgeoner, Ken Nilsen and I always enjoyed our discussions with Carl and had a lot of fun working for him. I won a Canada Wide Science Fair medal that year using Carls' worms and knowledge and still have it. I will remember Country Carl (that black cowboy hat and german accent always made us laugh!!). His passion and committment to the environment and his need to upscale his process was WAY ahead of his time. I recycle with worms to this day and Carl was a huge influence on me and my family values and how we treat our own environment. I still may have tucked away a box of Terra Organica "Worm Poop" and have shared the story of it with many people over the years with fondness. It was a treat in years gone by - too many now - to meet Carl on the street in Newmarket where he would remember and laugh about those days and the worms. He was proud of his kids and I am sure the doting Grandpa to his grandchildren. Carl, it was a privilege and fun to know you. This world is a better place for having known you and maybe we should have listened a little more. See you on the other side.

Inge and family, I was so saddened to read in the Era paper about Carls passing. I consider it a privilege to have cared for Carl and yourself when you resided in Newmarket. Carl was an intelligent, determined, devoted gentleman. He was also extremely charming and interesting and a delight to talk to. He was interested in the world around him and lived life to the fullest. I know he was also a devoted husband, father and grandfather. I will miss him. My deepest condolences on your loss.

We are very sad to learn of Carl's passing. We have very fond memories of Carl from when he and Inge lived in our building. Our condolences to Inge and family.
One of my personal memories is of when I would do grocery shopping and more often than not run into Carl shopping at the same time. He would call me over to the bakery section and we'd try the sample of the day together. He never failed to make me smile.
