Saying goodbye is never easy.
I've been sitting on my feelings trying to sum up everything I wish I could have told you and there is so much.
Last night my Grandfather, Ken Hart passed away peacefully at home.
My heart is broken along with everyone in our family but the love you gave us will never be forgotten.
My grandfather was not only one of the most important men in my life but he was my second father. Raising not only 3 of his own kids but raising my sister and I, and sharing everything this world had to offer with us.
My grandfather wasn't a man of many words, but he was a man of action.
And he taught me some of the most important lessons of life:
To love with everything you are, to show that you care,
Work hard and work for what you want in life.
Be creative, build; your hands and your head are your best tools.
Take your time because the world might be in a rush but we are not.
Take naps, lots of naps, nap anywhere.
Thank you for sharing with me the things in life that you loved, like going for walks even if you were never a fast Walker. Thank you for every car ride you took me on as a kid, thank you for sharing your love of watching boats go through the canal,(you and I will always have boats) and thank you for every time we got ice cream after. I still remember every time you saved the free ice cream cone on your stamp card just to take me out. Thank you for instilling love for animals in me, from the fish growing up, to the Taking me to petting zoos and to feed ducks Thank you for giving me advice that I still hold on to every time I have a bad day that I pass on to others struggling which is "today might not have been good but all you can do is hope for tomorrow to be better". There's so many more memories I could share, but these are just a few.
Thank you for being a part of who I am today. I will always love you and I will certainly never forget everything you've ever done for me.
You are the best grandfather, and the best second Dad I could have ever asked for
Our Tin Man
"And sing for all your friends and family; sing for those who didn't survive.
But sing not for their final outcome; sing a song of how they tried.
We live amidst a violent storm; leaves us unsatisfied at best,
So fill your heart with what's important, and be done with all the rest"
