Kathy Tonkonoh

Obituary of Kathy Ann Tonkonoh

On Tuesday, April 28th, 2020, Kathy Ann Tonkonoh (Moroz) passed away with her children by her side, after a brief, yet courageous battle with cancer. She was 60 years young.

Kathy has gone to join her parents, Jack Moroz (1998) and Ann Hetmanchuk (2011). She is survived by her siblings, Wally (Linda) Moroz and Nina Restauri. She leaves behind her three children, Tara Ferguson (Joe De Angelis), Shawn Moroz (Natasha Calder), and Krysta (Daniel) Lachapelle. As well as her five grandchildren, Colton, Meadow, Halina, Kason and Heath.

Kathy is renowned for her cooking and baking skills. She spent most of her free time in her kitchen cooking up a storm, planning recipes, tagging cookbooks, watching cooking shows, or simply talking about her next grocery trip. She could whip up the best batch of cabbage rolls, leaving you begging for more. Her other hobbies and interests included gardening, thrifting, reading novels and collecting Scentsy bars. She had the largest sense of humour, lifting the spirits of everyone around her.

She had the strongest work ethic and is legendary at a downtown St. Catharines coffee shop as one of the favourited coffee baristas. Customers would line up in her line, even if it were the longest line, just to have her serve them. She leaves a huge void with her customers and fellow colleagues.

Kathy (Baba) will be forever missed by her friends and family. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be announced and held at a later date.

Kathy had a big heart for those struggling in the community. Donations will be graciously accepted at Gillian's Place and Community Addictions Services of Niagara in her honour.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME. 585 Carlton Street, St. Cathrines, Ontario
