Obituary of George Blake
BLAKE, George
Passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 25th at the Greater Niagara General Hospital at the age of 86.
Much loved father of Neil (Isobelle) and John (Lori), and loving Grandpa George of Alexander (Christina), Matthew, Daina (Bob) Fennell, Jason (Kristie) and Brandon (Teresa). Cherished great grandfather of James Leithan, Blake, Jack and Ava. Devoted friend and companion of Margaret Ballantyne. Also survived by his brother Alec (May) of Scotland, and many nieces and nephews, in Scotland and the U.S.A.. Predeceased by his brother Andrew (Margaret) of Chicago.
George was an active member of the Niagara Regional Navy Veterans Association. He retired after 38 years from Stelco, where he held the position of Supervisor of Galvanized Shipping.
Mr. Blake's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, March 1st from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held in the funeral chapel on Friday, March 2nd at 11:30 am. Cremation will follow the service with an inurnment at a later date in Innerleithen, Scotland. If desired, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
