Dear Johnstone Family,
I was very sorry to learn about the passing of Mr. Johnstone and I my heartfelt condolences go out to you all. Excuse the formality in not referring to him as 'Rod' but I attended Orchard Park from 1980-1989 and out of respect he was, and will forever be, Mr. Johnstone to me.
He was certainly a teacher that commanded the respect of his students and although considered strict by most, he had this wonderfully soft, caring side to him that let you know that his approach was to teach us life lessons in integrity and personal values that simply can't found in textbooks. To say it another way, he was hard on us but it was only to make us better, and when we succeeded he beamed with pride and couldn't contain that signature smile.
The world has lost a great teacher, and I am happy to have know him.

Dear Johnstone Family, Deepest Sympathies to you in this difficult time. Mr. Johnstone was a teacher of mine @ Orchard Park while I was there from 1980-89. While he could be stern (and almost feared!) at times, I really respected him because he was real and genuine with his students. He taught me my first science classes, and I went on to love science and get a degree & job in the field. When I think back to those days @ Orchard Park, I always remember teachers like Mr. Johnstone with fondness and gratitude. He will be greatly missed.

Jenn and Jamie and family,
Thinking of you all during this hard time and remembering all the great stories you've shared about your dad Jenn. From just a few conversations with Rod over the years that's all it took to know what a lovable guy he was and how much he loved you guys. Lots of love, Walker.

Dear Jenn & Jamie,
Memories are made of this....Christmas dinners with Rod strumming his guitar while we all sang; sailing on Lake Ontario (me - scared to death); cottage weekends at Lake Eugenia (remember the old sail board) - so many fun times.
Your Dad was such a kind hearted, loving man and so very proud of you both - the light of his life.
You have been amazing throughout this most difficult time, demonstrating such love and caring when he needed you the most.
May you find your own peace - as Rod has. He will be missed.
Sincere condolences to you and yours,
Love from Aunt Linda & Uncle Rob

Dear Jenn and Jamie,
I am thinking of you both during this difficult time. Your father was such a caring and friendly man who was always willing to do anything for you both. He welcomed your friends with open arms and sometimes with a "dance party". I still remember the time when Jenn, Lisa, Shae and I were preparing for a night out and "Party Rod" put on some tunes and we all had our own dance party in the living-room. Let your happiest memories of your father dance in your hearts forever. Love, Tamara xo

Dear Auntie Jenn
I am sorry your Dad passed away. You must feel very sad. He was a great man. I liked when he took me to Happy Ralphs and when Uncle Rod took me to the park in his new Honda Accord.
You will always have happy memories of him.
I liked the pizza lunch on his boat..."A Boat Time"!...that's a great name for a boat.
I will always have him in my heart, I feel very sad.
Love Luke. Xoxo
