Obituary of Ingrid Edmondstone
EDMONDSTONE, Ingrid (nee Kennedy)
After a beautiful and fulfilling life, Ingrid passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2019 just shy of her 91st birthday. She leaves behind her loving husband of over 65 years, Harry, her 5 wonderful children Alec (Jo-Anne), John, Peter (Shufen), Paul (Cathy) and Mary Ann (Stan), 7 grandchildren whom she cherished, Neill (Victoria), Christopher, Jorden, Liam, Joshua, Colin (Alie) and Kylie, her brother Garry (Cathy), and brother-in-law, John Dewar. She is predeceased by her parents John and Charlotte Kennedy, brother Barry (Carolyn) and sister Anne Marie Dewar.
Never one to spend time with both arms the same length, she lovingly sewed and knit for her own children, and later for others by donating hand knit baby blankets to charity. Ingrid taught, then volunteered at the Niagara Children's Centre for 50 years and was an active member of the May Court Club. A love of travel took her on many spectacular trips. In more recent years, she loved spending time on "her perch" overlooking her beautiful garden, reading and watching her birds.
She will be dearly missed by her loving nieces, nephews, and many friends, especially those from her bridge clubs with whom she spent many enjoyable afternoons. Ingrid's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Hotel Dieu-Shaver for their care and compassion. A special thank you to everyone who visited during her time there.
In accordance with Ingrid’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Church of the Transfiguration, 320 Glenridge Ave, St. Catharines on Friday, December 13, 2019 at 11a.m. Inurnment will follow the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Niagara Children’s Centre or the Church of the Transfiguration in Ingrid’s honour.
