Obituary of Ida Fratangelo
Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Monday September 9, 2019 at the age of 84. Born in Castellino del Biferno and emigrated with her family in 1967. She leaves behind her loving husband and partner of almost 62 years, Mario. Beloved mother and best friend to Damiano Fratangelo (Antonella) and Teresa D'Ilario (Sergio) and devoted and proud Nonna of Danielle Morency (Marc), Victoria D'Ilario, Lucia Del Priore (Antonio), Alexandra D'Ilario, Maria Fratangelo, and Jonathon D'Ilario. Loving Bisnonna of Avery Ida & Madden Morency and Gabriel Del Priore. She leaves behind her siblings Silvia Magnotta, Pasqualina Fratangelo & Michelino Fratangelo and is predeceased by her siblings Vittorio Fratangelo, Nicolino Fratangelo. She had a special bond and was adored by her great nieces and nephews.
Ida's pillar of strength, resilience, and wittiness made her a true treasure to her family and friends. She drew everyone in with her warm and charismatic personality, making her a light to everyone who crossed her path. She was a dedicated Catholic whose continued generosity and selflessness touched many lives. She would always put the needs of others before her own. Nonna will be deeply missed and fondly remembered through her legacy that will live vicariously through her family.
Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Wednesday, September 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass for Ida will be celebrated at St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine St., St. Catharines on Thursday, September 12 at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre, Heart & Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
