Obituary of Vera McKean

McKean, Vera (nee Knazukovich) (January 20, 1928-March 15, 2012) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Vera McKean, in her 85th year, at St. Catharines General Hospital. Beloved mother of Curt Candler and Laurel Broczkowski, loving grandmother to Tamera, Melissa, Elyse ,Alexander and great-grandson Dylan. Predeceased by husband Ronald Candler, husband Gordon McKean and brother Edward Barber. Vera graduated from the Mack School of Nursing in 1949 and spent most of her working years as an OR nurse in the Community Wing of St. Catharines General Hospital. After retiring, she was active in the altar guild of Church of the Good Shepherd and was a volunteer for Community Care and the Out of the Cold program for many years. For the past two years, Vera has resided at St. Catharines Place. Many thanks for the staff†™s loving care and attention. A service to celebrate Vera†™s life will be held at Church of the Good Shepherd, 359 Grantham Ave., on Friday, March 23 at 11:00. A private family interment will follow at a later date.
