I met John three years ago while volunteering at the Salvation Army food bank. John always had the gift of the gab and each week would share stories of his family and early life.
He was a kind natured man who loved his family and the Lord. It became clear to me early on he found a great sense of peace in the church.
He will be dearly missed by all. I know though, that he took the expressway when he left this earth and the gates of heaven flew open for his welcome home.
Rest well John; you will be missed.

I had the pleasure to work along side John on Thursday mornings doing the food bank at The Salvation Army Family Service. Joan always had many stories to tell when we had a break. His sense of humour at times was very dry, other times very funny. John always loved talking about his boys but especially loved talking about his granddaughters. Both Fred and I will miss John so much. We we happy that we got to meet you all last Sunday as we are now away. Our sincere prayers are with the whole family.

He sits on the stairs behind us, outwardly poking fun at us and our beloved Maple Leafs, inwardly admiring us from his unique vantage point as role model and firsthand witness to an inseparable band of brothers developing into men.
I couldn't possibly be more grateful.

Such a great loss and far too soon. John always gave a warm and inclusive welcome to friends and acquaintances. His sense of playfulness certainly came to the forefront if you were ever fortunate enough to share a game of cards with him, I wish there could have been more of those...sending love and prayers to all the family
