Obituary of Henry Hoogasian
Hoogasian, Henry.
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father; on May 19, in his 83rd year. Loving father to Stephanie, Traci (Larry) Clement, and Jennifer (Paul) Marttila. Cherished grandfather to Matthew, Meghan, Spencer, Natalie, Sam, Olivia, Isabel, and Sophia. Pre-deceased by parents Kevork and Satenig, his brother Dick, and sister Isabel. Henry was loved by many nieces and nephews, who were like his own children. Henry will be missed by his loving care-giver, for the past 10 years, Anelyn. As well as his loyal friends.
Henry was an active business man, who loved his community, as well as his own business Hoogasian Insurance Brokers Ltd; which he started 48 years ago. He was passionate about the Shaver Hospital, where he sat on the Board of the Foundation for over 22 years. Henry was also a proud member of the Armenian Community, and a member of the St Catharines Golf & Country Club for over 30 years. As a young man he was also inducted in to the Sports Hall of Fame for baseball.
He will be remembered and loved by his family, and friends, for his sense of generosity and community spirit. His family was his pride and joy. He was the greatest father in the world.
Visitation for Henry will be held at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St, St Catharines, on Thursday May 23, from 2-8pm. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday May 24, at 11am. Cremation has already taken place. If so desired donations to Shaver Hospital Foundation, Armenian Community Centre, or St Gregory’s Armenian Church would be appreciated by the family.
