GAZZOLA, Angelo “Tony”
January 21st, 1932 to April 21st, 2019 at home. Beloved husband and best friend of Donna for 57 years. Loving Father of Cathy, Beth, Amy, Paul, and Bart. Dear Grandpa of Ben (Ayanda) Silk and Maddie (Nick) Phillips. Great Grandpa to Olivia, Eli, Hayden, Rhett and Briar. Survived by his siblings Peter (Moira), John (Deanna) and Anna Marie, in-laws Cliff (Helen), Paul (Mary), Vern, Michael (Theresa), Ardene (late Jim) Donaldson and Veronica (Ernie) Tonellato. Predeceased by his parents Bruno and Liduina, sister Cecelia Donaldson, brothers-in-law Gary (Marlene), Frank (Olive) Scott and sister-in-law Shelley Scott.
He was an active member of St. Alfred’s Parish, where he was a long-time Eucharistic Minister, Senior Funeral Server and one-time Collection Counter. Tony was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1394 for over 60 years. He was a Past Grand Knight and an active member serving in various capacities. He was Grand Knight & Master of 1st degree team for many years. He was also a past Chief Councillor of Squires Circle #1251. He was an honourary life member of Monsignor Morris 4th Degree Assembly. For many years he was Treasurer of the Annual Knights & Shriners Sports Celebrity Dinner. At the time of his death, he was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. Tony was an avid gardener from early April when he planted cool weather crops to late October. He loved to cook and spent many hours in the kitchen. He made homemade wine from picking the grapes, sorting, crushing and pressing.
Visitation will take place at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers and Presentation of the 4th Degree Chalice being held at 3 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 316 Queenston St., St. Catharines, on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow Mass and a private family Inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SickKids Foundation.
